The Forsaken Saintess and Her Foodie Roadtrip in Another World decided to do something much more relaxing: give its heroine a camper van, a strange new world, and plenty of opportunities to stop for food.

Honestly, that was probably the smartest thing about it.

The Summer 2026 anime season gave us Suterare Seijo no Isekai Gohantabi: Kakure Skill de Camping Car wo Shoukan Shimashita, a cozy fantasy series that mixes slow-life isekai, cooking, travel, and light adventure. Studio EMT Squared handled the animation, with Atsushi Nigorikawa directing, while Rin Takanashi quickly became the character many viewers simply wanted to see having a good day for once.

Season 1 wrapped up with 12 episodes in late September 2026, and naturally, the conversation has already moved to one question:

There is no official renewal yet, but there are several reasons I wouldn’t write the show off just yet.

And honestly, I’m not particularly surprised.

The first season has only just finished airing. Anime production committees don’t necessarily announce sequels immediately after the final episode. They need time to look at streaming performance, merchandise, source-material sales, home video results, and the overall response from the audience.

For a cozy series like this, the decision can also work differently from a giant action franchise. The show doesn’t need to become the biggest anime of the season overnight. It needs to build a reliable audience that keeps watching, buying the source material, and supporting the franchise.

That last point is important: Late 2028 or early 2029 is an estimate, not a confirmed release window.

Why a Second Season Still Makes Sense

The biggest advantage The Forsaken Saintess has is that it isn’t trying to squeeze a finished story into one cour.

The anime has a substantial amount of source material to work with, including the original web novel by Yoneori, light novels illustrated by Akane Nito, and a manga adaptation illustrated by Nana Kogami.

Season 1 mainly had the job of introducing Rin, her unusual abilities, Mochan, the fantasy setting, and the people who gradually become part of her journey.

That’s actually a pretty good position for a sequel.

Instead of having to invent a completely new direction, a second season could simply take Rin farther into the world and allow the relationships established during the first 12 episodes to breathe.

And that’s exactly what I’d want.

One of my favorite things about this series is that the journey itself is the point. Rin doesn’t need to save the universe every five minutes. Watching her discover ingredients, prepare meals, explore unfamiliar places, and slowly become more comfortable in her new life is enough.

What Could Happen in Season 2?

If the anime continues following the source material, the obvious next step is expanding Rin’s travels and pushing the group closer toward larger settlements and the royal capital.

That could change the tone slightly.

So far, the series has had plenty of room for quiet scenes, food, camping, exploration, and character interaction. Reaching more politically important areas could introduce new conflicts, characters, and questions surrounding the Saintess system.

One storyline fans are particularly interested in is the possibility of Rin encountering the kingdom’s other summoned Saintess.

That setup has a lot of potential.

Rin’s approach to her new life is fundamentally different from what you’d expect from a traditional chosen-one protagonist. She isn’t desperately trying to become a legendary hero. She wants security, good food, interesting places to visit, and people she can trust.

Putting her next to another Saintess with completely different priorities could create some genuinely interesting character drama without turning the anime into a nonstop battle series.

Things I want from Season 2

• More of Rin and Mochan’s road trips
• New fantasy ingredients and cooking scenes
• A bigger look at the royal capital
• More development for Rin’s relationships
• More information about the other Saintess
• New abilities and upgrades for Mochan

That last one might sound silly, but I’m completely serious.

Mochan is basically one of the show’s secret weapons.

The camper van isn’t just a gimmick. It gives the story its identity. Every time Rin uses modern conveniences in a fantasy environment, the contrast between her old-world knowledge and the new world becomes part of the fun.

I’d happily watch an entire episode centered around Rin upgrading Mochan and preparing it for a dangerous new region.

The Food Is Still the Real Star

Let’s be honest: people came for the isekai premise, but a lot of viewers stayed for the food.

The cooking sequences are where the anime really settles into its own rhythm. There is something unusually satisfying about watching Rin take unfamiliar fantasy ingredients and turn them into something that feels almost absurdly comforting.

That is also why the show’s slower pacing works.

A typical isekai might treat traveling between towns as something that happens between major battles. The Forsaken Saintess is perfectly happy to make the journey itself the entertainment.

You get a campsite.

You get ingredients.

You get Mochan.

You get dinner.

And somehow, that’s enough.

For me, that’s the charm. The anime understands that not every fantasy adventure needs to constantly raise the stakes.

When Could Season 2 Release?

This is where expectations need to stay realistic.

Even if a second season were announced relatively soon, anime production takes time. Character designs, storyboards, scripts, animation, compositing, voice recording, and scheduling all have to come together before a sequel reaches television.

A roughly 18–24 month production period after a greenlight would not be unusual for a sequel of this scale.

If the committee waits until 2027 to make the renewal decision, that makes late 2028 or early 2029 a reasonable speculative window.

Of course, this could shift significantly depending on when production actually begins and how much of the studio’s schedule is already committed.

So I wouldn’t expect a surprise Season 2 premiere in 2027.

If anything, I’d rather see EMT Squared take its time than rush another 12 episodes onto screens and lose the relaxed atmosphere that made the first season work.

Why Fans Are Asking for More

The reaction to the series has been interesting because it wasn’t necessarily the sort of show everyone expected to become a seasonal favorite.

On paper, it’s another isekai.

In practice, it feels much more like a fantasy road trip with cooking anime energy.

That distinction matters.

The appeal isn’t built around constant twists or power escalation. It’s the combination of Rin’s personality, the unusual camper-van concept, the food, the scenery, and the slowly developing group dynamic.

Discussions across anime communities have repeatedly focused on those same elements. Viewers talk about favorite meals, Rin’s interactions with the other characters, Mochan’s utility, and where the road could take the group next.

That’s exactly the kind of audience a second season needs.

Not necessarily the loudest fandom on the internet, but a dedicated one that genuinely wants to spend more time in the world.

My Take on The Forsaken Saintess Season 2

I’m not going to pretend we have a Season 2 announcement when we don’t. Right now, it simply isn’t confirmed.

But I also wouldn’t be surprised if the series eventually returns.

The source material is there, the premise still has plenty of room to expand, and the first season established a formula that can continue without becoming repetitive. More importantly, Rin’s story doesn’t feel finished.

There are still new places to visit, new food to discover, new people to meet, and plenty of questions surrounding her role as a Saintess.

And personally, that’s the kind of sequel I’d rather see.

Give me another 12 episodes where Rin drives Mochan into some beautiful fantasy landscape, finds an ingredient I’ve never heard of, cooks something ridiculous, and spends an evening with the people she’s slowly come to trust.

Save the giant world-ending crisis for later.

The Forsaken Saintess works best when it remembers that sometimes the best part of an adventure is simply stopping for dinner.

For now, fans should watch official channels and announcements throughout 2027 for concrete information about a renewal. Until then, Season 2 remains unconfirmed — but the road ahead certainly doesn’t look empty.
