My Take After Chapter 2

What I appreciate most about Evangeline Puts on Shoes is that the romance isn’t being rushed.

There are definitely romantic undertones, but the story is building something more interesting first: mutual respect.

Evangeline respects Kota because he noticed her pain when other people didn’t.

Kota respects Evangeline because she takes her acting dream seriously and isn’t afraid to challenge herself.

Their professions also complement each other in a surprisingly clever way.

She’s trying to walk onto bigger stages.

He’s trying to become the person capable of making the shoes that help her get there.

That is a much more interesting premise than simply putting two attractive students in the same classroom and waiting for them to fall in love.

The “good shoes take you to good places” idea from the end of Chapter 2 feels almost like the manga’s central theme. Kota makes the shoes, but Evangeline is the one deciding where she’s going.

And now he’s agreed to help her get there.

That is why I’m much more curious about Chapter 3 than I was before Chapter 2.

We aren’t just waiting for another cute school-romance chapter anymore. We’re waiting to see whether an inexperienced shoemaker can create something worthy of an actress who is determined to become the best in her field.
