Kagurabachi Chapter 131 is shaping up to be one of those chapters where the real excitement isn’t just about what happens next, but about finally understanding why everything happened in the first place. After reading through the full events of Chapter 130, “I’m Fine!”, I honestly think Takeru Hokazono just gave us one of the most important pieces of backstory in the entire manga.

At first glance, Chapter 130 looked like another chaotic battle involving Chihiro, Hakuri, and the current conflict. Then the timeline started becoming clearer, and suddenly the entire chapter clicked into place.

This wasn’t the present day at all.

What we were watching was a flashback from 19 years before the current storyline, during the Seitei War. And more importantly, it showed the horrifying circumstances surrounding the creation of the Enchanted Blades and the struggle of Kunishige Rokuhira and Princess Chiaki.

For me, this is exactly the kind of Kagurabachi storytelling that makes the series stand out. Hokazono doesn’t simply dump lore on the reader. He lets you misunderstand something first, then pulls the rug out from underneath you.

Kagurabachi Chapter 131 Release Date

Naturally, the big question isn’t simply when Chapter 131 arrives. It’s where Hokazono takes us after that huge historical reveal.

Chapter 130 Explained: The Truth Behind “I’m Fine!”

Chapter 130 begins by establishing a terrifying situation during the Seitei War.

Approximately sixty-one hours after the event known as the “bellowing,” Japan was under extreme pressure from the Mikaboshi. Their demands were brutally simple: surrender a valuable asset at Irishima on April 1.

That asset was Princess Chiaki.

The Sorcery Bureau essentially had three days to deal with the situation while simultaneously trying to complete the defensive weapons that could potentially change the balance of the conflict.

And this is where the chapter becomes genuinely uncomfortable.

The creation of the Enchanted Blades wasn’t some glamorous moment of magical craftsmanship. It was built on suffering.

Kunishige’s Sacrifice

Young Kunishige Rokuhira is shown chained and pushed beyond his physical limits while working with the incredibly dangerous Datenseki ore.

The imagery here really stuck with me.

Kunishige isn’t portrayed as some effortlessly brilliant legendary blacksmith. He’s exhausted, injured and desperate. The process itself is practically destroying him.

Meanwhile, Chiaki is facing an entirely different kind of horror.

To prevent her from mentally suffering through what awaited her as a captive, the officials resort to an ancient forbidden spell known as “Anesthesia.” The spell suppresses her ego, effectively preventing her consciousness from fully experiencing what is happening.

It’s an incredibly dark solution.

As Chiaki is taken away by Kamunabi guards, Kunishige tries to call out her name. He’s restrained, wounded and barely able to move.

And Chiaki’s response explains the title of the chapter.

She keeps reassuring herself:

“I’m fine.”

She’s bleeding. She’s terrified. Kunishige is suffering even more. Yet her thoughts remain focused on him rather than herself.

That detail completely changes the emotional meaning of the chapter title.

It isn’t confidence.

It’s self-sacrifice disguised as reassurance.

The Shiba Twist Was Brilliant

This was probably my favorite trick in Chapter 130.

At one point, the manga shifts toward what looks like a modern military crisis. There are communication failures, the furnace has gone dark, and the Masumi Unit appears to have disappeared.

Then we see a wounded fighter and another character struggling because Shiba can’t teleport again.

If you’re following the current story, it’s incredibly easy to assume we’re watching Chihiro and Hakuri.

I certainly understand why fans jumped to that conclusion.

But Hokazono was playing with us.

The scene is actually set 19 years in the past.

The young man is Shiba during his time on the Seitei War front, while the wounded fighter belongs to the historical Masumi group. Shiba has already pushed his teleportation ability too far while trying to get them out of danger.

That revelation is important because it gives us a completely different picture of Shiba.

We’ve mostly known him as the eccentric, ridiculously capable ally in the present-day story. Chapter 130 reminds us that he has a history of putting himself in danger to save other people.

And honestly, I want more of this version of Shiba.

The Birth of the Datenseki Tamahagane

The emotional climax comes when Kunishige finally manages to overcome the impossible conditions surrounding the smelting process.

The result isn’t just another weapon.

It’s the material that will eventually make the six legendary Enchanted Blades possible.

Chiaki and Kunishige are reunited, and Chiaki breaks down against his chest. Her words are simple, but after everything the chapter has put her through, they hit much harder than a huge dramatic speech ever could.

Kunishige apologizes for making her wait.

That scene is easily one of the most human moments in this entire flashback.

Then Hokazono pulls the camera away from the reunion.

The ruined facility is still burning. Kamunabi observers are standing among the wreckage, trying to understand what has just happened.

And then comes the reveal.

From the destroyed furnace, the Datenseki Tamahagane steel has finally been created.

A massive glowing mass of raw material is pulled from the wreckage by heavy chains.

That’s the moment when the entire history of the Enchanted Blades suddenly feels different.

These legendary swords weren’t born under perfect conditions.

They were born from war, desperation, sacrifice and an almost impossible amount of determination.

What Could Happen in Kagurabachi Chapter 131?

Now that the historical flashback has apparently established the foundation of the Enchanted Blades, I expect Chapter 131 to move back toward the modern conflict.

1. Back to Chihiro

The obvious possibility is a return to Chihiro and the ongoing Hishaku conflict.

Chihiro currently carries Enten, a blade that exists outside the original six. Knowing exactly how difficult it was for Kunishige to create the material behind those legendary weapons gives Enten’s history even more weight.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chapter 131 uses the flashback to directly influence Chihiro’s next decision.

2. More Secrets About the Tamahagane

The biggest unanswered question for me is what makes the Datenseki Tamahagane so special.

We now know that its creation was extraordinarily difficult, but there is probably much more to the process than simply melting Datenseki.

Could there be a specific condition required to create it?

Could the Hishaku be trying to reproduce the original process?

And perhaps most importantly, does anyone in the present actually understand what Kunishige discovered?

Those questions could become extremely important very soon.

3. Hakuri’s Role

The Shiba and Masumi scenes also feel like deliberate setup for Hakuri.

The modern story has already pushed Hakuri’s abilities and physical endurance to the limit. His struggle with the Sazanami Storehouse mirrors the determination we saw from the older generation.

I don’t think that’s accidental.

Hokazono seems increasingly interested in connecting the younger characters with the sacrifices made by the people who came before them.

Why Chapter 130 Matters So Much

What I really enjoyed about Chapter 130 is that it makes the Enchanted Blades feel less like fantasy collectibles and more like historical artifacts with a human cost.

We’ve spent so much time treating these swords as the central weapons of the Kagurabachi world. Now we’re finally seeing what their creation actually meant.

Kunishige wasn’t simply a legendary swordsmith.

He was a man trying to protect people while being crushed by circumstances far bigger than himself.

Chiaki wasn’t simply an important figure from Chihiro’s past.

She was someone who willingly endured unimaginable fear because she cared about Kunishige’s survival.

And Shiba wasn’t always the relaxed, unpredictable character we know today.

He was once a soldier desperately trying to save his comrades.

That’s why I’m especially interested in Chapter 131. The manga has spent the last chapter looking backward, but the information we’ve received could completely change how we view the present.

Kagurabachi Chapter 130 didn’t just explain the past. It gave the current conflict a much heavier emotional foundation.

If Chapter 131 immediately returns to Chihiro, I expect the transition to feel very different after seeing what his father went through.

And knowing Hokazono, there is a good chance the chapter will end by dropping yet another piece of information that makes us question everything again.

At this point, I’ve learned not to trust Kagurabachi’s apparent timeline.

Every time I think I understand what I’m looking at, Hokazono seems to have another trick waiting.
