There are anime trailers that make you excited for a new season, and then there are trailers that make you immediately start pausing every three seconds to figure out what the hell you just saw. The final trailer for Link Click Season 3 Part 1 belongs firmly in the second category. Bilibili and Studio LAN have finally given fans another look at the next chapter of Shiguang Dailiren, and honestly, I’m not sure whether I feel more excited or slightly terrified.
The wait has already been painful enough after the chaos of Season 2 and the extra layers added by Link Click: Bridon Arc. Now the new trailer appears to be pushing the story even deeper into its time-travel mythology. The big question is no longer simply whether Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang can survive another impossible situation. It’s whether changing the past has already changed them without them even realizing it.
When Does Link Click Season 3 Part 1 Release?
The good news is that fans don’t have to wait much longer. Link Click Season 3 Part 1 is scheduled to premiere on August 14, 2026, putting the return of the donghua only days away.
The third season is planned as a split release, with 24 episodes in total. The first 12 episodes will make up Part 1, while the remaining episodes are expected to arrive in 2027. For a series this obsessed with timelines, memories and alternate possibilities, a split-cour structure feels almost suspiciously appropriate.
International viewers also have a reason to be happy. The new season is expected to receive a day-and-date release with English subtitles on Crunchyroll, with an English dub following later. So yes, the countdown is officially on.
And after watching that trailer, I have absolutely no intention of waiting for spoilers to reach me through Reddit.
The Final Trailer Is Much Darker Than Before
What immediately stood out to me wasn’t one particular character or mysterious line. It was the mood.
Early Link Click could still feel like a supernatural mystery series built around individual cases. Season 2 started tearing that comfort apart, and Season 3 looks ready to throw the entire thing into the furnace. The trailer is packed with desperate faces, fractured memories, ominous conversations and characters who look like they haven’t slept properly in weeks.
Even Lu Guang, normally the human embodiment of ‘please stop talking and think for five seconds,’ looks completely shaken.
That’s probably the biggest warning sign.
When Lu Guang starts losing his composure, you know the story has reached a point where even he doesn’t have a safe answer.
Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang May Have Known Each Other Before
This is easily the part of the trailer that sent the fandom into theory-overdrive.
The footage appears to hint that Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang may have shared a connection long before their university days. That’s a huge deal because their relationship has always been the emotional center of Link Click. We understood how they met. We understood the rules surrounding their abilities. But what if the story we’ve been given about their first meeting isn’t actually the complete truth?
One popular fan theory suggests that Lu Guang may have already used his abilities in an earlier timeline to save Cheng Xiaoshi.
Think about how nasty that possibility is.
If Lu Guang has already gone through a previous version of these events, then his behavior suddenly makes a lot more sense. His obsession with keeping Cheng Xiaoshi alive has never felt like ordinary friendship. There has always been something almost frightening about how far he is willing to go.
And if he remembers something that Cheng Xiaoshi doesn’t?
That could completely change their relationship.
The theory gets even more interesting if an earlier timeline somehow caused Cheng Xiaoshi to lose memories of their childhood connection. In that scenario, Lu Guang isn’t simply protecting his friend. He’s trying to preserve someone who may have already been lost once.
That’s exactly the kind of emotional cruelty Link Click specializes in.
Lu Guang Finally Looks Ready to Break
The trailer also gives us what may be one of Lu Guang’s most emotionally intense moments yet.
During an argument with Qiao Ling, he appears to struggle with the idea of accepting a future in which his friends are gone. His normally controlled voice gives way to desperation, and one particular exchange has already become fuel for endless fan speculation.
The important thing here isn’t simply what Lu Guang says. It’s how he says it.
This is a character who usually thinks several steps ahead. He’s cold when he needs to be, cautious when Cheng Xiaoshi is reckless, and seemingly obsessed with following the rules surrounding their abilities. Watching him become openly emotional suggests that whatever happened before Season 3 has pushed him past the point where logic is enough.
And that raises a terrifying possibility: Lu Guang may be willing to break the rules of time completely.
Why This Could Be Dangerous
The entire premise of Link Click has always revolved around consequences. You can enter a photograph, but you don’t get to casually rewrite history without something going wrong.
If Lu Guang has decided that one particular death or tragedy must be reversed, he could end up creating the exact catastrophe he’s trying to prevent.
That’s the classic time-loop nightmare, and honestly, it’s perfect material for this series.
Li Tianchen’s Death May Not Be the End of His Story
Season 2 left behind plenty of supernatural fallout, and the new trailer makes it clear that Li Tianchen’s presence still hangs over the story.
One particularly strange moment involves Qiao Ling questioning why she began experiencing disturbing visions around the time Li Tianchen died. That detail might sound small, but with Link Click, I wouldn’t trust anything that looks small.
The series has repeatedly shown that death, memories and supernatural abilities aren’t necessarily cleanly separated.
If Li Tianchen’s death triggered something inside Qiao Ling, then the consequences could extend much further than anyone expected.
And then there’s Liu Xiao, who continues to look like one of the biggest wild cards heading into the new season.
I genuinely don’t know whether we’re supposed to trust this guy, distrust him, or simply accept that he’s going to make everyone’s life considerably worse.
Probably all three.
Xia Fei, Jay, and the Bridon Connection
Another major piece of the trailer involves Xia Fei and the mysterious organization connected to Bridon.
This is where Bridon Arc becomes especially important.
If you haven’t watched the prequel yet, I’d strongly recommend doing it before starting Season 3. Sure, you could probably jump directly into the new season, but you’d be throwing away a lot of context surrounding the factions, characters and supernatural history that now appear to be feeding directly into the main story.
The appearance of Jay from Yingdu adds another layer of uncertainty. The trailer suggests that several characters are pursuing supernatural photographic abilities, with the situation becoming increasingly personal when family members and stolen powers enter the equation.
At this point, I’m expecting alliances to last approximately five minutes before somebody betrays somebody else.
That’s just how Link Click works.
The New Opening and Ending Songs May Be Hiding Clues
The music is another detail worth paying attention to.
The Season 3 opening, ‘Time’ by Yang Runze, reportedly goes for a frantic, energetic sound that fits the trailer’s increasingly desperate atmosphere. It feels like exactly the sort of opening you hear once and then accidentally have stuck in your head while wondering whether the protagonist is about to die.
The ending theme, ‘Zero’ by Fan Ka, is much more melancholy.
And that title has already inspired some pretty wild theories.
The idea of ‘returning to zero’ naturally makes fans wonder whether Season 3 could involve a major timeline reset. Maybe the characters will eventually reach a point where the only way forward is to erase everything they’ve changed.
But there’s a darker interpretation.
What if ‘zero’ doesn’t mean starting over?
What if it means losing everything?
That possibility would fit Link Click almost too perfectly.
How to Watch Link Click Before Season 3
If you’re preparing for the August 14 premiere, I’d definitely recommend going through the story in this order:
- Link Click Season 1 — establishes the Time Photo Studio, Cheng Xiaoshi, Lu Guang and the fundamental rules of photo jumping.
- Link Click Season 2 — takes the central mystery into much darker territory and sets up the major conflicts leading into Season 3.
- Link Click: Bridon Arc — adds important background information about the wider world, new factions and characters connected to the upcoming storyline.
- Link Click Season 3 Part 1 — finally brings those threads together.
The Bridon Arc is particularly important now. What initially looked like an optional side story increasingly feels like required homework for anyone who wants to understand where Season 3 is going.
My Biggest Season 3 Theory: Lu Guang Is Already Fighting a Losing Battle
If I had to put money on one theory before the premiere, I’d focus on Lu Guang.
I think there’s a very real possibility that we haven’t seen the first version of these events.
His behavior makes much more sense if he’s already experienced some variation of the story. The strange familiarity, his extreme determination to protect Cheng Xiaoshi and his willingness to interfere with events all point toward someone who knows more than he’s admitting.
The scary part is that knowing the future doesn’t necessarily mean you can control it.
In fact, Link Click may be building toward the opposite idea: the harder Lu Guang tries to save Cheng Xiaoshi, the more inevitable the tragedy becomes.
That would be brutal.
It would also be completely on-brand.
Link Click Season 3 Could Be the Series’ Most Important Chapter Yet
The final trailer doesn’t feel like a simple preview for another season. It feels like a warning.
Everything that started with two guys running a strange photography studio has grown into a sprawling story about memory, fate, supernatural abilities and the consequences of trying to cheat time. Season 3 appears ready to push those ideas further than ever, while finally confronting the biggest unanswered questions surrounding Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang.
Personally, I’m most interested in the Lu Guang mystery. We’ve spent so much time watching him desperately try to control situations that the idea of him having already failed in another timeline is incredibly compelling.
And if the show really is preparing a massive timeline reset, I’m not emotionally prepared for what that could mean.
Link Click Season 3 Part 1 premieres August 14, 2026. At this point, the only sensible strategy is to watch the trailer again, start checking Reddit for increasingly unhinged theories, and prepare for the inevitable cliffhanger that will leave everyone arguing about timelines at two in the morning.
Because if Link Click has taught us anything, it’s that changing the past never comes for free.
