Every anime season has that one series that quietly sneaks up on viewers and ends up becoming the show everyone recommends a few weeks later. Looking at the early reactions across anime communities, I genuinely believe Behind the Supermarket, Smoking with You has a real chance to become that anime for Summer 2026. At first…
When I first heard that Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You was getting an anime adaptation, I was excited—but also a little worried. The manga works because of its quiet atmosphere, subtle character interactions, and the kind of emotional honesty that is difficult to recreate in animation. After watching the newly released trailer, though, I…
For years, anime fans have asked for more romance stories centered on actual adults rather than another classroom full of teenagers. That’s one of the biggest reasons why Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You has been sitting near the top of so many manga readers’ adaptation wishlists. Now that the anime is finally arriving in…
For years, if you asked almost any romance manga fan to name the absolute peak of psychological rom-com storytelling, the answer was automatic: Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. It wasn’t even close. Honestly, it’s easy to understand why the series suddenly exploded in popularity among anime fans worldwide. This isn’t just another high school romance designed…
Romance anime come out every season, but very few manage to leave that strange lingering feeling after each episode ends. The Ramparts of Ice somehow does exactly that. Maybe it’s the painfully realistic awkwardness, maybe it’s the silence between conversations, or maybe it’s because Koyuki feels less like a fictional anime heroine and more like…
There are a lot of seasonal anime that get hyped for a week or two and then quietly disappear from conversation. The Ramparts of Ice somehow did the exact opposite. At first glance, it looks like another soft high-school romance with the usual quiet-girl-meets-outgoing-boy formula. I honestly expected something pleasant but forgettable. Instead, after watching…
When I first started watching and reading The Ramparts of Ice, I honestly thought Miki Azumi would just be another stereotypical “popular girl” character. You know the type — always smiling, effortlessly kind, universally loved, emotionally flawless. Anime has used that archetype for years. But the more I followed the story, the more I realized…
