Hajime then holds the enormous blade and declares that the Mystic Sword will guide its wielder toward the place where they are meant to be.

That line feels especially important going into Chapter 30.

If Dylan really can guide Hajime toward a predetermined destination, then the sword may be far more than a powerful weapon. It could potentially be connected to the Hero’s legacy itself.

Why Dylan’s Awakening Matters

The most interesting detail from the ending isn’t even the sword’s name.

It’s why Dylan awakened.

The editor’s commentary indicates that the Mystic Sword responds to Hajime’s childhood memories.

That is a massive clue.

It suggests that Dylan isn’t simply reacting to Hajime’s physical presence. There appears to be an emotional or historical connection between the sword and its wielder.

My Take on the Chapter 29 Twist

I have to admit, the Hajime and Dylan reveal caught me off guard.

The early chapters of The Hero’s Bereaved Family can make the story feel like a strange combination of dark fantasy, family drama, comedy, and survival battle. Because of that, I wasn’t expecting the series to suddenly introduce this much weapon mythology.

But that’s exactly why the twist works.

The Mystic Sword doesn’t feel like a random power-up. The chapter connects it to childhood memories, the Hero’s legacy, Reveal’s forging abilities, and Hajime’s mysterious past.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions, but that’s a good thing.

The story now has something to build toward.

And if Chapter 30 follows through on the promise of that final page, we could be looking at the beginning of one of the most important arcs in the entire manga.
