Obviously, I don’t want to turn this into a giant manga spoiler dump. Part of the fun of Chainsmoker Cat is discovering Yani’s next disaster as it happens.

However, fans can reasonably expect more of the elements that made Season 1 entertaining.

We should see more of:

• Yani’s disastrous attempts at employment and adult responsibility
• Imoko and her increasingly complicated relationship with her sister
• More strange beast-folk and eccentric side characters
• Yani’s friendships and relationships with the people around her
• More landlord problems and financial chaos

And honestly, that is enough for me.

I don’t need Chainsmoker Cat to suddenly become a huge action series or introduce some ridiculous world-ending villain. The appeal is watching these characters deal with ordinary life in the most spectacularly dysfunctional way possible.

My Prediction: Will Netflix Renew Chainsmoker Cat?

If I had to make the call today, I would bet on Season 2 happening.

There is no official confirmation yet, so fans should absolutely treat any “Season 2 confirmed” claims online with caution. But the fundamentals are encouraging.

The manga has plenty of material. The anime has developed an active fanbase. Netflix is giving the series international exposure, and the show’s unusual premise gives it a distinct identity in an increasingly crowded anime market.

Most importantly, Chainsmoker Cat has something that many disposable seasonal comedies never manage to create: people actually want to talk about it.

That matters.

For me, the biggest question isn’t whether Bibury has enough material for another season. They clearly do. The question is whether Netflix’s internal numbers show that the audience is large enough to justify continuing the adaptation.

If those numbers are strong, I honestly don’t see why Netflix would stop here.

And if Netflix gives Yani another season, I’ll absolutely be there to watch her make another hundred terrible decisions.

Because let’s be honest: I wouldn’t want her any other way.
