Eventually, the narrative evolves into something much larger, involving ancient powers, True Dragons, Demon Lords, world-level threats, and characters whose abilities make the early battles look almost quaint.

Potential Season 5 material could therefore include:

• Escalating conflicts with the Eastern Empire and the military forces threatening Rimuru’s growing domain.
• Much larger battles involving Tempest’s strongest commanders, including Benimaru, Diablo, Shion, and other powerful members of Rimuru’s inner circle.
• Further exploration of True Dragon-level power, pushing Tensura’s already ridiculous power scaling into an entirely different category.
• The larger world conflict that eventually becomes far more important than the political struggles that dominated earlier seasons.

And honestly, this is the part I am most interested in seeing animated. Rimuru has already gone from an ordinary salaryman to a Demon Lord, but the later story makes it increasingly clear that even becoming one of the strongest beings in the world is not the end of his journey.

Why I Think Season 5 Is More Likely Than Not

There is always a temptation in anime fandom to treat popularity as an automatic renewal. It isn’t. Plenty of successful anime disappear for years, while other shows return despite seemingly modest demand.

But Tensura occupies a particularly strong position.

The franchise has a long-established fanbase, multiple forms of merchandise, a successful manga adaptation, games, theatrical projects, and international streaming support. Crunchyroll’s 2026 lineup lists Season 4 as one of its major spring returns, with Eight Bit handling the animation.

There is also something else that matters: the story has an ending.

That may sound obvious, but it gives the anime a significant advantage. The production team can look at the complete 23-volume main story and decide how much material should become television episodes, movies, specials, or other projects.

Personally, I would much rather wait several years for a properly planned Season 5 than see Tensura compressed into a rushed production just because the audience wants it immediately.

The funny thing about Tensura is that Rimuru’s original goal was basically to live a comfortable life after being reincarnated as a slime. Somehow that turned into building a country, becoming a Demon Lord, dealing with ancient monsters and dragons, and eventually getting pulled into conflicts that threaten the entire world.

At this point, expecting the story to quietly end after Season 4 feels strange.

My bet is that Season 5 will eventually happen. The bigger question is not whether Rimuru’s journey continues, but how ambitious Eight Bit and the production committee decide to make that final stretch of the story.

And if the anime eventually reaches the truly insane late-story battles that light novel readers already know about, I have a feeling the wait will be worth it.
