I would be careful about predicting a direct connection to something like the Book of Darkness or other classic Nanoha concepts, though. At this point, that is fan speculation rather than confirmed story information.
Still, the possibility is fun to think about.
If Season 2 finally explains what caused the catastrophe 30 years earlier, it could completely change how we understand the first season.
The Old Generation Still Has a Role
Another thing I hope Season 2 does is find the right balance between the new protagonists and the classic characters.
Nanoha Takamachi, Fate Testarossa Harlaown, and Hayate Yagami are enormous parts of the franchise’s identity. At the same time, simply making them solve every problem would defeat the purpose of introducing Shiina, Towa, and the new generation.

Give the new characters their own victories.
Let Nanoha show up when things become completely ridiculous.
That would feel very Nanoha to me.
What Could Season 2 Improve?
As much as I enjoy the direction of EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance, I think the second season has an opportunity to become even more confident.
The first season has a lot of world-building responsibilities. It has to introduce the new setting, establish the EXCEEDS organization, explain the threat, develop new characters, and remind longtime viewers that this is still Nanoha.
A second season would not have that burden.
Instead, it could concentrate on larger conflicts, deeper character relationships, and more ambitious battles.
And yes, I absolutely want bigger battles.
The “Gun Blaze” part of the title practically promises spectacular magical artillery, and the franchise has never been shy about making combat scenes ridiculously powerful. If Season 2 happens, I would expect the action to become more elaborate rather than simply repeating the same visual ideas from Season 1.
What About the Manga?
The companion Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS manga, which began serialization in 2025, is another interesting part of the larger project.

And honestly, after following Nanoha for this long, waiting a little longer for another round of magical artillery is probably a price most fans are willing to pay.
