The manga shows the passage of time through the changing sky, while his room slowly turns into the disaster zone you’d expect after an all-night writing session. Papers are scattered everywhere, books are lying around, and empty energy drink cans are sitting on his desk.
Eventually, Kazuya simply collapses at the laptop.
The confession is finished.
He is not.
That ending is both funny and surprisingly touching.
After hundreds of chapters of hesitation, the guy has finally managed to complete something he has been emotionally incapable of doing for ages. And naturally, his reward is falling asleep face-first at his desk.
Classic Kazuya.
What Could Happen in Rent-a-Girlfriend Chapter 442?
This is where things get much more interesting because Chapter 441 creates several obvious possibilities.
1. Kazuya Practices the Confession
The most straightforward possibility is that Chapter 442 follows Kazuya during the final preparation for the date.
He could print the confession, rewrite parts of it, practice speaking in front of a mirror, or desperately try to memorize every sentence.
Considering how nervous he usually becomes around Chizuru, I wouldn’t be surprised if his carefully prepared speech completely falls apart the second she actually looks at him.
And honestly, that would fit the series.
The preparation may be perfect.
The execution probably won’t be.
2. Chizuru Could Accidentally Discover It
This is the theory that immediately caught my attention.
Kazuya falls asleep with his laptop still open.
That is an absolutely enormous Chekhov’s-gun-style setup if the story wants to use it.
If Chizuru happens to see the screen and realizes that Kazuya has written a confession specifically for her, the entire dynamic changes before the date even begins.

That last point could be particularly important. A chapter ending with Kazuya and Chizuru finally stepping into the actual date would create a very different kind of tension from the previous chapters.
Final Thoughts
I’ll be honest: after following Kazuya for this long, Chapter 441 feels like one of those chapters where the story finally stops spinning its wheels for a moment.
He’s still insecure. He’s still awkward. He’s still very much Kazuya.
But he finally did something concrete.
He sat down, faced the feelings he was terrified of explaining, and wrote them out.
That’s why I’m more interested in Chapter 442 than I would have expected. The confession itself might not even happen yet. In fact, the manga could easily spend another chapter torturing us with preparation and misunderstandings.
But the difference now is that Kazuya has a finished confession waiting for him.
The words exist.

And Chizuru has no idea what is coming.
For a series built around romantic hesitation, that’s a pretty dangerous combination.
