Taku Yashiro takes on the role of Anzel, and this feels like a particularly interesting casting choice. Yashiro has demonstrated plenty of range throughout his career, appearing as characters such as Vulcan Joseph in Fire Force and Gaku Tokumitsu in The Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included. He has the kind of voice that can make a character sound confident without necessarily making him feel one-dimensional.
We still don’t know everything about Anzel’s importance to the story, which honestly makes this reveal more fun. She spent her previous life fighting gods and surviving countless battles, but she had one enormous regret: she never found an opponent capable of defeating her.
That is a fantastic character motivation because it changes the entire reincarnation formula.
Instead of being excited about a peaceful second life, she basically wakes up thinking, Great. A new body. Now how do I make this thing strong enough to fight?
The problem is that her new body belongs to a physically weak and chronically ill noble girl. Nia can’t simply rely on the monstrous physical abilities of her previous life. She has to rebuild herself from the ground up, and that makes her situation much more entertaining than another generic overpowered-isekai setup.
I particularly like the idea that Nia sees weakness as a challenge rather than a tragedy. Most protagonists would probably be horrified by waking up in a body that can barely function. Nia sees it as the ultimate training project. Her attitude creates the possibility for both comedy and genuinely intense action.
