Chapter 68 didn’t just end with another monster attack or a powerful spell. It completely changed the situation surrounding Will Serfort and the Samios incident. The students were separated, Gharzela Olszak finally revealed himself as the mastermind behind the crisis, and then we got the reveal that has everyone talking: Rosti Elman was waiting for Will in the darkness.
That final scene immediately raises a huge question. Is Rosti actually an enemy? Or is there something much stranger happening behind his sudden appearance?

Chapter 68 Was Much More Than a Simple Ambush
What I really liked about Chapter 68 is how quickly the story changes direction. At first, it feels like a standard investigation mission. Will and the others are sent to Samios after reports of a major disappearance, expecting to uncover some kind of magical disturbance.
Instead, they walk directly into a carefully prepared battlefield.
The city is supposed to be filled with thousands of people, yet the area is completely deserted. Even the High Mage Peacekeepers have disappeared. That alone should have been enough of a warning, but the real danger becomes obvious when the group enters the mysterious Frostgate Antechamber.
The enormous frozen structure is connected to the legendary Sage Ladderu, giving the location a much deeper historical significance than a random underground dungeon. And then the monsters arrive.
Sion Finally Shows How Far He Has Come
One of my favorite moments from the chapter is Sion Elphias Levi’s performance against the Lyzance. Sion has always had the talent, but we’ve also seen how much pressure he puts on himself when comparing his abilities with Will.
Here, he finally gets a moment that proves his growth.
Sion unleashes “IFLAMME BURDELYON!” without going through the kind of lengthy incantation we normally associate with high-level magic. The resulting attack is enormous and powerful enough to obliterate a large portion of the incoming threat.
Unfortunately for Sion, Workner immediately reminds everyone what a genuine powerhouse looks like.
Workner’s massive counterattack wipes out the attacking creatures across the chamber. It’s a great little reminder that there is still a huge difference between talented students and experienced Ascendant High Mages.
Gharzela Olszak Is the Real Nightmare
Then comes the reveal that completely changes the mission.
Gharzela Olszak appears above the group, and Workner immediately recognizes him. Gharzela isn’t some unknown monster handler hiding in the shadows. He was once an important figure within the magical hierarchy and served as the Protector of Samios.
His attitude makes the situation even more disturbing. He doesn’t behave like someone desperately defending himself. He acts like a person who already knows exactly how everything will end.
His statement that the students and their allies are the “abnormalities” tells us that the attack was planned from the beginning.
But Will notices something that the others initially overlook.
Gharzela isn’t actually trying to hit them.
His wind attacks are destroying the architecture around them. At first, this seems strange, but the reason becomes clear almost immediately. The battle against the Lyzance was never the real objective.
The Chain Circles Were the True Trap
The hidden Chain Circles beneath the floor activate, and suddenly the entire team is separated.
This is the part of Chapter 68 that makes the title “THE INVITATION” so much more sinister. The monsters, the bombardment and the apparent chaos were all distractions. Gharzela wanted the group exactly where he needed them before activating the teleportation mechanism.
Instead of fighting one organized team, he now has individual targets scattered throughout the ancient structure.
- Will is isolated in a dark underground corridor.
- Liana finds herself facing Gharzela alone.
- The rest of the vanguard are scattered across unknown areas of the fortress.
- The Lyzance remain an additional threat while everyone is separated.
It feels less like a battle and more like a giant magical hunting ground.
And Then Rosti Appears
Of course, the biggest moment belongs to Will.
After realizing that everyone has been separated, Will immediately tries to find his friends. That’s completely in character for him. He isn’t thinking about defeating Gharzela or proving how strong he has become. His first thought is simply to regroup and protect everyone.
Then he sees someone standing in the corridor.
Rosti Elman.
Except this isn’t the Rosti we know.
The familiar cheerful and affectionate personality is completely gone. Rosti appears cold, emotionless and strangely detached. The hooded appearance makes the entire scene feel less like a reunion and more like Will has just encountered someone wearing the face of his closest companion.
And that is exactly why I think this cliffhanger works so well.
Is Rosti Actually Working for Gharzela?
This is easily my biggest question going into Chapter 69.
There are several possibilities, and none of them are particularly comfortable.

Still, I wouldn’t completely trust any theory yet. Wistoria has repeatedly shown that its characters can hide important information, and Omori clearly enjoys making readers rethink earlier scenes.
Will Probably Won’t Want to Fight Rosti
If Chapter 69 immediately turns into a serious fight between Will and Rosti, I expect Will to hesitate.
That’s what makes this confrontation so interesting.
Will can fight monsters. He can challenge powerful mages. He can throw himself into situations that would terrify most students. But Rosti isn’t some random opponent. He’s someone Will trusts.
If Rosti attacks him, Will’s first instinct probably won’t be to destroy him. It will be to figure out what happened to him.
That could create a very different kind of fight. Rather than Will trying to overpower Rosti, we could see him desperately avoiding lethal attacks while attempting to reach his friend’s real personality.
What About Liana and Gharzela?
We also shouldn’t forget about Liana Owenza.
Her situation might become just as important as Will’s. She has been separated from the rest of the group and is now directly facing Gharzela, the person responsible for the entire trap.
Liana is not someone who can simply overpower an enemy of Gharzela’s level, but she doesn’t necessarily need to. The equipment provided before the mission, especially the specialized Masers, could become extremely important in the next chapter.
Personally, I’d love to see Liana use intelligence rather than raw magical power to survive. If Chapter 69 focuses entirely on Will and Rosti, her side of the story could easily be pushed aside. But given how deliberately Chapter 68 positioned her against Gharzela, I suspect Omori has something planned.
My Prediction for Chapter 69
If I had to bet on what happens next, I don’t think Rosti will simply attack Will without explanation. The reveal is too important for that.
I expect Chapter 69 to spend a significant amount of time exploring Rosti’s identity, his connection to Will and possibly his relationship with Elfaria. We could also get the first real clues about why Rosti has behaved so strangely throughout the series.
At the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised if the chapter ends with another huge reveal instead of giving us all the answers. That’s probably the most frustrating possibility, but it’s also the most believable one for Wistoria: Wand and Sword.

For me, the most exciting part isn’t even the possibility of a huge magical battle. It’s the character drama. Will has spent so much of the story fighting against people who underestimate him because he can’t use normal magic. Now he’s facing something much harder: someone he may not be able to bring himself to fight.
And if Rosti really is hiding a connection to Elfaria, the consequences could extend far beyond this dungeon.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Chapter 69 has all the ingredients for a major turning point: a mysterious ancient fortress, Gharzela’s carefully constructed trap, separated heroes and one of Will’s closest friends suddenly standing against him.
Whatever Rosti really is, I have a feeling the answer is going to change how we look at several earlier chapters.
For now, all we can do is wait for October 8, 2026. After that final panel in Chapter 68, I’m definitely not missing Chapter 69.
