Mission Yozakura Family Character Strength Tier List: Strongest Spies Ranked
One of the things I love about Mission Yozakura Family is that its fights rarely feel like simple contests of strength. Sure, the series eventually delivers some ridiculous displays of power, but there’s always something more interesting happening beneath the surface. A character’s personality, fighting style, bloodline, and even emotional state can make the difference between winning and getting completely overwhelmed.
Created by Hitsuji Gondaira, the manga combines spy action, family comedy, supernatural abilities, and surprisingly emotional storytelling. Across its 258 chapters, the Yozakura family grows from an eccentric household of dangerous spies into the center of a conflict involving generations of secrets and the mysterious substance known as Someinine.
And honestly, ranking these characters is harder than it might seem.
Does raw destructive power matter more than a defensive ability that can neutralize almost any attack? Should a master strategist rank below someone who can flatten a battlefield? And where do the next generation’s prodigies fit when they haven’t accumulated nearly as much combat experience?
For this Mission Yozakura Family character strength tier list, I’m focusing on the manga’s endgame power dynamics, demonstrated abilities, versatility, and overall combat effectiveness. The rankings are my interpretation of the characters’ relative strengths rather than an official ranking established by the series.
God Tier: The Characters Who Define the Power Ceiling
These are the characters who fundamentally change how a fight works. Their abilities go beyond conventional spy techniques, making even experienced opponents think twice before engaging them.
1. Asa — The Ultimate Threat
Asa is my pick for the most terrifying opponent in the series. What makes him dangerous isn’t simply his physical strength, but his understanding of Someinine and the Yozakura bloodline itself.
While other characters develop individual Blooming abilities, Asa’s connection to the origins of Someinine gives him a level of biological control that makes ordinary combat strategies feel almost pointless. His regeneration, resilience, and ability to manipulate the substance put him in a category of his own.
The most frightening aspect of Asa is how difficult he is to overcome through conventional force. Even when facing multiple powerful opponents, he remains a threat because his abilities affect the foundations of the family’s power system.
Why he ranks so highly: Asa combines overwhelming physical capabilities with specialized knowledge and regenerative potential. He’s not just a powerful enemy; he’s a threat to the very system that gives the Yozakura family its strength.
2. Taiyo Yozakura — The Ultimate Evolution
Taiyo has one of the most satisfying character journeys in the manga. He begins as an ordinary teenager struggling with trauma and fear, but his determination gradually transforms him into a fighter capable of standing alongside the most dangerous people in the world.
His initial Blooming, Hardening, improves his defensive capabilities and striking power. However, his endgame development is what makes him a serious contender for the top position.
Taiyo’s True Spring Blooming represents the culmination of his growth, combining his own determination with the potential of the Yozakura bloodline. His development is particularly meaningful because he doesn’t become powerful simply by inheriting an impressive ability. He earns his place through relentless training, experience, and his willingness to protect the people he loves.
His Profuse Blooming of 10,000 Flowers further demonstrates the versatility of his fighting style, allowing him to combine speed, defense, and tactical offense.
Personally, Taiyo is one of my favorite examples of a shonen protagonist whose growth actually feels connected to his character. His strength isn’t just a collection of flashy upgrades; it’s the result of everything he has endured.
3. Tsubomi Yozakura — The Source of the Bloodline
Tsubomi occupies a unique position because her importance extends beyond her individual fighting ability. As the original head of the Yozakura family, she is directly connected to the origins of Someinine.
Her biological control, regeneration, and immense potential establish her as one of the most extraordinary figures in the story. The abilities developed by later generations ultimately exist within a system that traces back to her.
However, evaluating Tsubomi is complicated. Her narrative circumstances don’t always allow for a straightforward comparison with characters who demonstrate their abilities in direct combat.
I would place her among the strongest characters based on her potential and connection to Someinine, while recognizing that direct combat feats and theoretical power aren’t always the same thing.
4. Momo Yozakura — A Master of Manipulation
Momo is frightening for a different reason. Rather than relying entirely on brute force, he combines experience, unusual biological control, and a Blooming ability known as Night Sakura.
His powers can distort opponents’ perceptions and interfere with their ability to respond effectively. Against an enemy who depends on reading movements and reacting quickly, that kind of manipulation can be devastating.
Momo’s experience and connection to the family’s secrets also make him difficult to predict. He understands the system that other fighters are still trying to master.
What puts him in God Tier for me is the combination of his combat experience and his ability to control the conditions of a confrontation. Fighting Momo isn’t necessarily about being stronger than him; it’s about finding a way to fight when your senses and assumptions can no longer be trusted.
Tier S: Legendary Spies and Elite Combat Specialists
Tier S belongs to characters who may not possess the same foundational advantages as the God Tier fighters but can still dominate most battles through exceptional training and highly specialized abilities.
5. Kyoichiro Yozakura — The Family’s Ultimate Protector
Kyoichiro is one of the easiest characters to place near the top. His obsession with protecting Mutsumi can be exhausting, but there’s no denying his combat ability.
His signature steel threads give him an extraordinary degree of battlefield control. He can attack from unexpected angles, restrain enemies, dismantle defenses, and create protective barriers. The Goddess’ Web further demonstrates how his threads can function as both an offensive weapon and a defensive system.
His Blooming, Void, makes him even more dangerous because it can neutralize external energy and interfere with other abilities within its effective domain.
That combination is what makes Kyoichiro such a difficult opponent. He doesn’t need to win a straightforward exchange of punches if he can control the space around his enemy and shut down the techniques they depend on.
My take: Kyoichiro is one of the best examples of why versatility matters in this series. He has the experience, precision, and defensive options to make even stronger opponents work for every opening.
6. Futaba Yozakura — The Close-Combat Monster
Futaba is another character I wouldn’t want to face in a confined space. Her mastery of martial arts is extraordinary, and her physical strength becomes even more impressive as the story progresses.
Her Blooming, Magnanimity, allows her to manipulate and absorb kinetic energy from physical attacks. This makes her especially dangerous against opponents who rely on overwhelming force.
Think about the problem her ability creates: an enemy throws a powerful strike, expecting to end the fight, only to find that the force behind that attack can become an advantage for Futaba.
Of course, abilities always depend on their specific limitations and circumstances. Still, in close combat, she has a tremendous advantage over straightforward brawlers.
Futaba earns her Tier S placement through a combination of technical mastery, physical power, and an ability that directly punishes aggressive opponents.
Tier A: Specialized Fighters Who Can Turn the Tide
The characters in Tier A may not have the same overall dominance as the previous group, but their specialized abilities make them essential to the family’s fighting strength.
7. Shinzo Yozakura — The Walking Arsenal
Shinzo is the person you want on your side when a mission turns into a full-scale firefight. His weapon collection and ability to use an enormous variety of equipment already make him a dangerous combatant.
His Blooming, Destruction, pushes the capabilities of weapons beyond their ordinary limits. Rather than simply handling firearms effectively, Shinzo can bring out their full potential and turn seemingly familiar equipment into devastating tools.
His biggest advantage is adaptability. A fighter who depends on a single weapon or attack pattern can become predictable. Shinzo has far more options available, allowing him to adjust his approach to the situation.
I particularly like how his abilities complement his personality. He might be nervous without a weapon, but once he has the right equipment, his confidence and effectiveness change dramatically.
8. Nanao Yozakura — The Adaptation Specialist
Nanao brings a different kind of danger to the battlefield. His biological expertise and unusual physical transformations make him much more than a large, powerful fighter.
His Blooming, Adaptation, allows his body to respond to toxins, biological threats, and environmental hazards. Combined with enhanced durability and regeneration, this makes him exceptionally difficult to eliminate through conventional methods.
He can also use corrosive substances and specialized biological agents, giving him options against groups of enemies rather than just individual targets.
Nanao’s strength is especially valuable in prolonged engagements. While another fighter might begin to struggle as conditions deteriorate, Nanao’s ability to adapt can turn a hostile environment into something he can survive and exploit.
9. Kengo Yozakura — The Master of Deception
Kengo proves that a character doesn’t need enormous explosions to be dangerous.
His disguise techniques, fake skins, and ability to imitate other people make him a nightmare for intelligence operations. With his Blooming, Deception, those talents become even more formidable, allowing him to create convincing illusions and sensory distortions.
In a direct confrontation, Kengo may lack the destructive output of Shinzo or Futaba. But combat effectiveness isn’t always about defeating someone in an arena.
Kengo can undermine an organization, mislead its leadership, or manipulate an opponent into making the wrong decision before the real fight even begins.
For a series centered on espionage, that kind of power deserves serious respect.
Tier B: Tactical Support and the Next Generation
Tier B includes characters whose greatest strengths lie in battlefield coordination, emerging potential, or specialized advantages that don’t always translate into overwhelming one-on-one combat power.
10. Shion Yozakura — The Battlefield Analyst
Shion approaches combat from the technological side. Her hacking skills, electronic countermeasures, drones, and surveillance systems allow her to support the family from a distance.
Her Blooming, Analysis, enhances her ability to process information and identify patterns. She can evaluate incoming threats, find weaknesses in enemy defenses, and help her siblings coordinate their movements.
Shion may not be the strongest character in a physical confrontation, but that’s not the point. Her contribution is the information advantage she creates for the rest of the team.
In a coordinated operation, knowing where an enemy is going to attack can be just as valuable as being able to block the attack yourself.
11. Alpha and Hifumi Yozakura — Future Legends?
Alpha and Hifumi represent the next generation of the Yozakura family. Their inherited potential suggests that they could eventually become extraordinarily powerful, but potential and proven ability shouldn’t be treated as interchangeable.
Hifumi demonstrates impressive physical talent, while Alpha’s precision and use of tactical threads evoke aspects of Kyoichiro’s fighting style.
Their development is exciting because they inherit a family legacy built around some of the most unusual abilities in the series. However, they don’t yet possess the same depth of experience as their older relatives.
I’d rank them in Tier B for an end-of-series comparison, with the important qualification that their future ceiling could be considerably higher.
12. High-Ranking Hazakura and Tanpopo Executives
The enhanced fighters associated with Tanpopo and Hazakura also deserve recognition. Their modified biology can grant them enhanced strength, regeneration, and specialized combat capabilities.
They are dangerous opponents, particularly when their modifications give them an advantage over ordinary spies. However, their dependence on an artificial derivative of Someinine creates a distinction between their abilities and the more adaptable powers of the Yozakura bloodline.
Their placement reflects that difference rather than suggesting that every executive is equally strong.
Tier C: Essential Allies and Specialized Support
Tier C doesn’t mean that these characters are unimportant. It means their strengths are less directly connected to overwhelming physical combat.
13. Mutsumi Yozakura — The Heart of the Family
Mutsumi is the most important reminder that a power ranking cannot measure everything that makes a character valuable.
As the eleventh-generation head of the family, she plays a crucial biological role in the production and stabilization of Someinine. Unlike her siblings, she doesn’t rely on the same kind of superhuman combat abilities.
That doesn’t make her weak in every meaningful sense. Her judgment, resilience, and ability to hold the family together are fundamental to its survival.
From a strict one-on-one combat perspective, Tier C is reasonable. From the perspective of the story itself, however, Mutsumi is indispensable.
Honestly, ranking her alongside ordinary support characters without that distinction would miss one of the central ideas of Mission Yozakura Family: protecting a family is about much more than winning fights.
14. Sousuke Michibata — A Capable Standard Spy
Sousuke represents the more grounded side of the series’ spy world. His tracking, stealth, and firearm skills make him a capable operative, especially compared with ordinary human opponents.
The problem is that the upper tiers operate on a completely different level. Once Someinine-based abilities, regeneration, and Blooming enter the equation, conventional spy training becomes much less effective in a direct confrontation.
Sousuke’s placement reflects that enormous difference in power rather than a lack of competence.
15. Goliath — More Than an Ordinary Dog
Goliath is a fun example of how even the family’s animal companion benefits from its unusual biological environment.
His enhanced size, strength, speed, and tracking capabilities make him a useful defensive asset. He can support operations around the mansion and deal with threats that would overwhelm an ordinary dog.
He isn’t a contender for the highest ranks, but he has a clear role within the family’s overall defensive structure.

| Tier S | Kyoichiro, Futaba | Elite combat mastery and specialized Blooming abilities |
| Tier A | Shinzo, Nanao, Kengo | Weapon mastery, biological adaptation, and deception |
| Tier B | Shion, Alpha, Hifumi, Hazakura and Tanpopo elites | Analysis, technology, developing potential, and enhanced biology |

These tiers are intended as broad comparisons, not guarantees of victory in every possible matchup. An ability that counters a specific opponent can matter more than a character’s general ranking.
Final Verdict: Who Is the Strongest Mission Yozakura Family Character?
For me, Asa and endgame Taiyo occupy the most interesting positions at the top of the ranking. Asa represents the terrifying potential of Someinine and the family’s tragic history, while Taiyo represents the possibility of overcoming that history through determination and personal growth.
Tsubomi and Momo belong in the highest conversation because of their exceptional connections to the bloodline and their unusual biological capabilities. Meanwhile, Kyoichiro and Futaba demonstrate that the modern generation’s elite fighters can compete through mastery, precision, and specialized powers rather than relying exclusively on raw destructive strength.
The middle tiers are where the series becomes especially interesting. Shinzo, Nanao, Kengo, and Shion all approach combat from different directions, proving that a powerful team needs more than a single unstoppable fighter.
And Mutsumi’s position highlights the biggest limitation of any character tier list: combat strength is not the same thing as overall importance.
That’s why Mission Yozakura Family works so well as both a spy-action manga and a family story. The characters have distinct abilities, but their relationships, decisions, and willingness to support one another remain just as important as their individual power levels.
If I had to pick one character whose journey best captures the series, it would still be Taiyo. Watching an ordinary, frightened teenager develop into someone capable of confronting the greatest threat to the Yozakura family is exactly the kind of character progression that makes a long-running shonen series worth following.
