Morino-san Chapter 3: Release Date, Chapter 2 Ending, and My Biggest Predictions

There are some manga that immediately make you want to read the next chapter, and Morino-san Just Won’t Leave Me Be is already starting to feel like one of those series for me. It is not trying to reinvent the romantic comedy, and honestly, that is part of its charm. Instead, Barako takes a very simple setup—a quiet boy, an extremely lazy girl, and absolutely no respect for personal space—and somehow turns it into something genuinely funny and surprisingly addictive.

The series, originally titled Morino-san Darugaramu (森野さんだるがらむ), is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump and is also reaching international readers through MANGA Plus. After reading through Chapter 2, I can already see why people are talking about it. The story has that wonderfully low-key atmosphere where almost nothing should be happening, yet every little interaction between Morino-san and Mejiro somehow becomes an event.

And now we have the big question: what is going to happen in Morino-san Chapter 3?

Before getting into my predictions, though, it is worth looking at exactly where Chapter 2 left us, because that ending gives Barako plenty of room to create another hilarious situation.

Morino-san Chapter 3 Release Date

Morino-san Just Won’t Leave Me Be Chapter 3 is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, for international readers. Japanese readers following the magazine’s local release should see the chapter on Thursday, September 17, 2026, depending on the platform and release schedule.

The series is currently following a weekly schedule, which is great news for anyone who has already become invested in this bizarre little relationship. For readers in the United States, the international release is expected around the following times:

Why Morino-san and Mejiro Work So Well

The basic premise sounds almost too simple. Morino-san is beautiful, sleepy, lazy, and seemingly incapable of understanding normal personal boundaries. Mejiro, meanwhile, is the unfortunate classmate who would really like to live a quiet and uneventful school life.

Obviously, that is never going to happen.

What makes their relationship entertaining is that Morino-san does not behave like the typical energetic teasing heroine. She does not constantly make jokes, shout embarrassing things, or aggressively chase Mejiro around the classroom. Her entire personality is much more slow, detached, and casually invasive.

She simply appears next to him, leans on him, grabs him, follows him, or decides that he belongs wherever she happens to be. Mejiro is basically trying to maintain a normal life while Morino-san quietly dismantles every boundary he has.

That is where the idea of daru-garamu becomes so important. It is the feeling of lazily hanging around someone in an annoying but strangely intimate way. Morino-san has practically turned it into an art form.

Chapter 2 Was Basically Morino-san at Her Best

Chapter 2, titled “Languid Cicada,” moves the action away from the classroom and into the school library. I really liked this change of scenery because it gives the manga a completely different atmosphere without changing its core dynamic.

Mejiro is simply trying to do his committee work. Naturally, Morino-san finds him.

What follows is one of those sequences that sounds ridiculous when explained but works incredibly well on the page. She sits across from him and silently watches him. Then, after he moves toward the computer, she suddenly appears behind the monitor like some kind of sleepy horror-movie creature.

That little “POP” moment might honestly be one of my favorite jokes in the chapter. There is nothing complicated about it. It is just Morino-san being Morino-san, and Mejiro realizing that escaping her is basically impossible.

Things become even stranger when Morino-san reveals the little plastic cicada shells she brought with her. Instead of doing anything remotely productive, she starts arranging them around herself on the library floor, creating what is essentially her own tiny cicada sanctuary.

And then comes the part that made the entire chapter much more interesting from a relationship perspective.

The Moment That Changes Everything

Morino-san eventually grabs Mejiro’s wrist and refuses to let him leave. When he asks why she wants him there, she explains that she likes being surrounded by things she enjoys because it helps her sleep.

Then she makes it very clear that Mejiro belongs on that list.

She does not turn this into a dramatic confession. There is no huge romantic speech. She simply goes to sleep while holding his hand and casually tells him that she will sleep better with him there.

That is exactly why I like the series.

Morino-san seems almost completely unaware of how intimate her behavior can look from Mejiro’s perspective. Meanwhile, Mejiro is slowly realizing that he might actually be important to her. He just has no idea what he is supposed to do about it.

And Then the Library Nightmare Begins

Of course, Barako could not end the chapter there.

While Morino-san falls asleep on the library floor, two male students enter the room looking for the library assistant. Mejiro immediately realizes how terrible the situation looks. Unfortunately for him, Morino-san is still holding his hand.

And she is not letting go.

Even while sleeping, she keeps her grip on him, leaving Mejiro desperately trying to escape without waking her or being discovered. The contrast is perfect: Morino-san is sleeping peacefully while Mejiro is experiencing the worst five minutes of his school life.

That cliffhanger feels like the perfect setup for Chapter 3.

My Predictions for Morino-san Chapter 3

I obviously cannot know what Barako has planned, but based on the way the first two chapters have been structured, I have a few theories that feel particularly likely.

1. Mejiro Is Going to Panic Even More

My first guess is that Chapter 3 will pick up almost immediately from the library scene. I would be genuinely surprised if we skipped the aftermath completely. Mejiro is in far too ridiculous a position for Barako not to squeeze another joke out of it.

He could try hiding behind the counter, moving Morino-san somewhere else, or somehow convincing the students that absolutely nothing strange is happening.

None of those plans are likely to work.

2. The School Rumor Machine Could Start

This is probably my favorite possibility. Imagine another student walking into the library and seeing Mejiro sitting beside a sleeping Morino-san, her hand wrapped around his.

Now add the circle of plastic cicadas.

There is simply no way that story stays inside the library.

If Chapter 3 introduces even a small rumor about the two of them dating, it could create a completely new source of comedy. Mejiro would probably spend the entire chapter desperately trying to explain himself while Morino-san would barely care.

3. Mejiro May Start Seeing Her Differently

This is the part I am most interested in. Chapter 2 did more than deliver another comedy sequence. It subtly established that Morino-san genuinely feels comfortable around Mejiro.

She likes having him nearby. She trusts him enough to fall asleep while holding his hand. And, perhaps most importantly, she seems to treat his presence as something that makes her feel safe.

Mejiro has already started noticing this.

I think Chapter 3 could be the point where he stops seeing her behavior as nothing more than an annoying habit and begins wondering whether there is something deeper behind it.

What I Want to See in Chapter 3

If I could choose, I would actually prefer Barako not to rush into a serious romance plot yet. The slow pace is one of the best things about Morino-san Just Won’t Leave Me Be.

I want more awkward everyday situations. More ridiculous personal-space violations. More moments where Morino-san casually says something that sounds like a confession while having absolutely no idea how devastating it is for Mejiro.

At the same time, I would love to see a few more hints that her attachment to him is genuine. The sleeping hand-hold was a great example because it communicated something about her without turning the manga into a dramatic romance.

That balance is what could make this series stand out from the huge number of school romcoms already available.

Final Thoughts

Morino-san Chapter 3 has a very entertaining setup waiting for it. Chapter 2 ended with Morino-san peacefully asleep while Mejiro was practically fighting for his social survival, and I cannot imagine a better foundation for another chapter of awkward comedy.

What I personally enjoy most is that the manga does not seem desperate to force its romance forward. Instead, Barako is letting the relationship develop through tiny moments: sitting together, following each other around, grabbing a sleeve, holding a hand, or simply being comfortable in the same space.

Those little interactions are exactly what make Morino-san so fun to read.

So, if you have not started the series yet, now is probably a pretty good time. With Chapter 3 arriving on September 16, 2026, the manga is still incredibly early in its run, and watching this strange relationship develop from the beginning could be a lot of fun.

As for me, I mostly want to know one thing: how on earth is Mejiro going to explain the cicada circle?

Because somehow, I feel like that is going to be the least of his problems.
