What started as a simple attempt to help Kazuaki while he was dealing with an injured foot quickly became one of those classic misunderstandings where almost everyone is thinking about something completely different.

And honestly? I loved it.

Chapter 29 felt like a perfect example of why this manga works so well. The characters don’t need some huge romantic confession or dramatic plot twist to make a chapter entertaining. Sometimes all Konbu needs is a house, two awkward relatives, a misunderstanding, and Satori’s imagination running at approximately 500 miles per hour.

Instead, Satori immediately turns the situation into a full-blown mental disaster.

Her biggest problem is not actually Kazuaki.

It is her own imagination.

She constantly assumes that something is going terribly wrong, overthinks simple situations, and then mentally jumps straight to the worst possible conclusion. Konbu makes this even funnier by switching between Satori’s serious internal thoughts and the completely ordinary reality happening around her.

That contrast is one of the strongest comedic elements in the chapter.

Kazuaki, meanwhile, remains almost ridiculously straightforward. He isn’t trying to create drama. He isn’t secretly orchestrating anything. Most of the time, he simply wants to understand what is happening and get through the situation without making things worse.

And that makes the two characters work surprisingly well together.

The funniest part: nobody is on the same page

Satori thinks she understands what Kazuaki needs.

Kazuaki thinks he has already explained the situation.

Neither of them realizes just how badly they have misunderstood each other.

What I particularly enjoyed was the way the chapter eventually reveals that Satori’s assumptions were completely off. A situation that looked incredibly dramatic from her perspective turns out to have a much more mundane explanation.

That frustration starts getting to her, and we see a softer side of her character. Instead of simply being the chaotic older cousin who creates misunderstandings, Satori briefly becomes someone who is worried that she isn’t doing enough for someone she cares about.

Kazuaki’s response is probably my favorite character moment of the chapter.

Rather than making fun of her, he reassures her.

It is a small scene, but it tells us something important about their relationship. Beneath all the awkward comedy, there is genuine affection and trust between the characters.

And that makes the comedy better.

When characters actually care about each other, even a ridiculous misunderstanding can have some emotional weight.

Then Came the Bedroom Cliffhanger

The final section of Chapter 29 is where Konbu once again demonstrates perfect comedic timing.

The sleeping arrangements become unexpectedly complicated, and Kazuaki ends up trying to make the most sensible decision possible.

Satori, however, handles the situation in the most Satori way imaginable.

She makes a surprisingly bold suggestion, only to immediately lose the energy to deal with the consequences and fall asleep.

That ending is hilarious because it creates a completely new problem for the following morning.

Kazuaki has spent the night trying to avoid making the situation more awkward.

Satori wakes up confused.

And now there is almost certainly going to be a giant misunderstanding waiting to happen.

This is exactly the kind of cliffhanger I want from this manga.

It doesn’t need an enormous dramatic revelation. It simply creates a situation that is almost guaranteed to become funny once the other characters discover what happened.

My Chapter 30 Predictions

So, what do I think will happen next?

1. Kazuaki’s Mother Is Going to Make Everything Worse

This is probably my biggest prediction.

The mother is already around the house, which means the story has a perfect opportunity to introduce an outside observer who has absolutely no idea what happened.

Imagine Satori trying desperately to explain the situation while Kazuaki stands there looking completely exhausted.

I can already see the misunderstanding getting ten times bigger.

And knowing this series, the mother probably won’t immediately believe the most innocent explanation.

2. Satori Will Enter Full Damage-Control Mode

After realizing how badly the previous night went, I expect Satori to go into maximum overcompensation mode.

She already has a tendency to blame herself whenever something goes wrong.

So Chapter 30 could easily feature her trying to make up for everything by becoming the world’s most aggressively helpful caretaker.

Lunch?

Probably enormous.

Getting Kazuaki ready for school?

Probably over-the-top.

Making sure his injured foot is okay?

She’ll probably act like she’s running an emergency medical operation.

The funniest part is that her attempt to fix the situation could create another misunderstanding.

That’s practically guaranteed with Satori.

3. Kazuaki Finally Goes Back to School

The domestic storyline can’t last forever.

At some point, Kazuaki has to return to his normal school routine, especially with the series’ larger romantic-comedy cast waiting in the wings.

His injured foot could also become a useful plot device.

The other girls may notice that something happened.

They may start asking questions.

Kazuaki will probably give a completely normal explanation.

And someone will inevitably interpret it in the strangest possible way.

That is where I think Chapter 30 could begin transitioning the manga back toward its broader ensemble cast.

What Chapter 29 Changed About Satori

Before this chapter, Satori could easily be viewed mainly as the chaotic older cousin who creates trouble.

After Chapter 29, I think she feels more three-dimensional.

Her biggest weakness is actually that she cares too much and thinks too much.

She wants to help Kazuaki, but she doesn’t always know how to express that naturally. Every small situation becomes a complicated mental puzzle.

That makes her incredibly funny, but it also makes her surprisingly relatable.

Kazuaki, on the other hand, is becoming an increasingly important counterbalance.

His personality is much calmer. When Satori starts spiraling, he tends to bring the situation back toward reality.

That contrast could become even more important as the story continues.

Why I’m Looking Forward to Chapter 30

For me, the biggest reason to read the next chapter isn’t even the romantic angle.

It’s the comedy.

Konbu has a great ability to take characters who are already embarrassed and somehow make their situation even worse without making the story feel forced.

Chapter 29 was especially effective because the humor came from the characters themselves. Satori wasn’t acting strangely just because the plot needed a joke. Her personality naturally led her into increasingly ridiculous situations.

That’s much harder to pull off than it looks.

And the ending gives Chapter 30 a perfect starting point.

We have an awkward morning.

We have Satori trying to understand what happened.

We have Kazuaki attempting to keep everything normal.

We have his mother nearby.

And eventually, everyone has to return to school.

That is an almost perfect recipe for another chapter of romantic-comedy disaster.

Final Thoughts

If Chapter 29 was any indication, So You Weren’t Into Me?! Chapter 30 could be one of those chapters where the actual plot is fairly simple but the character reactions make the entire thing unforgettable.

Personally, I hope Konbu doesn’t rush through the aftermath.

I want to see Satori’s reaction when she fully realizes what happened. I want to see Kazuaki trying to explain everything without making the situation more awkward. And, most importantly, I want to see what happens when the rest of the cast eventually gets involved.

The manga is at its best when it combines awkward romance, exaggerated misunderstandings, everyday comedy, and genuine character warmth.

Chapter 29 delivered exactly that.

So now I’m officially counting down to September 16, 2026, because I have a feeling Chapter 30 is going to begin with one extremely uncomfortable morning and end with an even bigger mess.

And honestly?

I wouldn’t want it any other way.
