Salamander Chapter 5 Release Date, Verified Chapter 4 Full Recap, and Post-Ending Fan Theories
Salamander is getting more ridiculous, more violent, and somehow more romantic with every chapter. And honestly, that combination is exactly why I’m having such a good time with it. Atsushi Nakayama has taken what could have been a fairly simple romantic comedy setup and turned it into something completely unhinged, where confessing your love can literally send someone through a concrete floor.
With Chapter 4 now fully available, the series has reached an interesting point. Manda Miyahira is finally showing that she can actually have romantic feelings for someone, while Ryuga Todoroki has been forced to confront the possibility of losing his place beside his childhood friend. Then there is Sara Kushinagara, who might be the most bizarre romantic rival I’ve seen in a manga lately.
So, when does Salamander Chapter 5 come out, what exactly happened at the end of Chapter 4, and where could the story go next? Let’s break it down.
Salamander Chapter 5 Release Date
Salamander Chapter 5 is scheduled to release on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The manga continues its weekly serialization through Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump, with international readers able to follow the official English release through MANGA Plus.
For readers in the United States, the expected release times are:
- Pacific Time: 8:00 AM, October 14
- Mountain Time: 9:00 AM, October 14
- Central Time: 10:00 AM, October 14
- Eastern Time: 11:00 AM, October 14
Unless Shueisha announces a break, Chapter 5 should follow the regular weekly schedule. That is especially good news because Chapter 4 ends on the kind of cliffhanger that makes waiting another week feel unnecessarily cruel.
What Happened in Salamander Chapter 4?
Chapter 4, titled “Qualifications and Flaws,” is where Salamander’s romantic setup really starts to become something more interesting.
Manda Miyahira has always had one enormous problem. Her emotions are dangerous. Whenever someone tries to confess their love to her, her feelings can trigger an explosive physical reaction that sends the unfortunate admirer flying.
Ryuga Todoroki has spent years dealing with this situation. As Manda’s childhood friend, he understands just how dangerous her emotions can become, and he has quietly positioned himself as the person capable of staying by her side.
Then Sara shows up.
Sara Actually Confesses to Manda
Sara Kushinagara approaches Manda while covered in blood and, rather than thinking this is a terrible idea, simply tells her that he likes her and wants to date her.
And here is the funny part: Manda actually likes hearing it.
Her eyes sparkle. She becomes emotional. For once, someone has managed to reach her heart instead of simply annoying or frightening her.
Unfortunately for Sara, Manda’s body has other plans.
The emotional reaction triggers another devastating shockwave. Sara is thrown through the air, crashes into the ground, and ends up catastrophically injured. The chapter even turns the scene into a ridiculous video-game-style health-bar joke, reducing Sara’s HP to practically nothing.
It is absurd. It is also exactly the kind of visual gag that makes Salamander stand out.
Why Sara’s Hospital Scene Matters
The hospital sequence is where Chapter 4 stops being just another crazy comedy chapter.
Sara is badly injured and clearly shouldn’t be moving, yet he still wants to go see Manda. Ryuga has to stop him and finally confronts him about their rivalry.
Ryuga’s argument is surprisingly serious. He admits that Sara accomplished something impressive by reaching Manda emotionally. He even acknowledges that, for a moment, he could see the two of them working together.
But then comes the problem.
Sara’s body simply isn’t strong enough.
Ryuga points out that Sara claimed Manda’s violence was a form of love and that he would endure whatever happened to him. But after only one encounter, Sara is already lying in a hospital bed covered in bandages.
For Ryuga, this isn’t just about winning a romantic rivalry. He is terrified that Manda will eventually become emotionally destroyed by constantly hurting people she cares about.
His most important concern is simple: he doesn’t want to see Manda cry.
That moment gives Ryuga much more depth than the usual jealous childhood-friend character. He isn’t merely trying to eliminate competition. He genuinely believes that protecting Manda means finding someone who can survive being close to her.
The Chapter 4 Cliffhanger
And then Manda arrives.
Just as Ryuga is preparing to leave Sara’s hospital room, the door opens. Manda is standing there, visibly exhausted and worried, carrying a gift bag.
She has clearly gone looking for Sara after realizing how badly he was hurt.
The final image is fantastic because it leaves all three characters in completely different emotional positions. Ryuga is shocked, Sara is delighted, and Manda is staring into the room without fully understanding what she is about to walk into.
That is where Chapter 5 begins, and I honestly think this could be one of the funniest conversations in the series so far.
What Could Happen in Salamander Chapter 5?
Obviously, these are theories rather than confirmed plot points. But Chapter 4 gives us a few very strong possibilities.
1. Manda Finds Out How Badly Sara Was Hurt
The most immediate possibility is that Manda realizes just how much damage she caused.
Ryuga may try to soften the truth because he knows exactly how guilty Manda becomes whenever her powers hurt someone. If she sees Sara covered in bandages, she could immediately blame herself.
That could create a surprisingly emotional scene, especially if Sara makes things even worse by insisting that he enjoyed every second of it.
2. Sara’s Extremely Weird Personality Becomes Impossible to Hide
This is probably my favorite possibility.
Sara clearly isn’t reacting to Manda’s violent abilities like a normal person. His obsession with being hit, kicked, and generally destroyed makes him less of a conventional romantic rival and more of a walking disaster.
If Manda discovers just how much Sara enjoys her “love attacks,” I could easily see her romantic interest disappearing almost instantly.
And honestly? That would be hilarious.
3. Ryuga Starts Thinking About His Own “Qualification”
There is another possibility hiding underneath Ryuga’s argument.
If the qualification for being with Manda is having enough physical durability to survive her emotional explosions, then Ryuga has a problem too.
He’s a boxer, but being a good boxer doesn’t mean being able to casually survive Manda’s supernatural shockwaves.
That could set up a future training storyline where Ryuga starts pushing his body beyond its current limits. It would fit Salamander surprisingly well: a romantic rivalry turning into a completely insane shonen-style durability challenge.

My Take on Salamander Right Now
What I like most about Salamander is that the ridiculous premise is starting to hide a surprisingly solid emotional core.
Manda isn’t simply a character whose punches happen to be funny. Her power represents something much more personal: she desperately wants affection, but getting close to someone can literally hurt them. That makes her fear of romance understandable rather than just another running gag.
Ryuga, meanwhile, is becoming more interesting because his jealousy is mixed with genuine concern. He doesn’t just want to “win” Manda. He wants to make sure she never has to live with the guilt of destroying someone she cares about.
And Sara? I’m still not convinced anyone should let this man near a hospital exit.
Chapter 5 should give us a much better idea of whether Sara is actually being positioned as a legitimate love interest or whether Nakayama is deliberately using him as the ultimate comedic obstacle for Ryuga and Manda.
For now, October 14, 2026 is the date to keep in mind. After that ending, I’m definitely curious to see what happens when Manda finally steps into that hospital room.
