The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System Chapter 177 Release Date, Ending Breakdown & Fan Forecast
If there is one thing I love about The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System, it is the way the manga refuses to let Elymas Edvaughn solve every problem simply because he knows the rules of the game. His past-life knowledge gives him an enormous advantage, but Chapter 176 reminded us that knowing the mechanics and surviving them are two completely different things.
The latest chapter ends with Elymas in one of the worst situations we have seen so far. His HP has fallen to just 141 out of 952, his MP is almost completely drained, and Necrodio has recovered nearly all of its health. To make things even worse, the boss has revealed that it is not just a flying magic-type enemy. It can also fight at close range, regenerate, manipulate the battlefield and hit extremely hard.
And then Elymas says the words that immediately made me want the next chapter: “I have a plan… though it’ll be a tightrope walk.”
That is basically the entire setup for The Exiled Heavy Knight Chapter 177.
The Exiled Heavy Knight Chapter 177 Release Date
Based on the current serialization schedule, Chapter 177 is expected to release on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The chapter is expected to become available through the official English digital release schedule, with K MANGA being the primary platform for readers following the series online.
There is always a possibility of a short publication break, however. If the manga takes a standard mid-volume or scheduling hiatus, the chapter could instead arrive on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
| Release Detail | Current Expectation |

| Primary Date | August 23, 2026 |
| Possible Delay | August 30, 2026 |

For me, the most interesting part is not even the release date. It is what that final line means for the fight.
Chapter 176 Turned Necrodio Into a Nightmare
Chapter 176 started almost like a textbook Elymas encounter.
The party identified the airborne enemy, coordinated an attack and used Ruche’s mobility to land the opening strike. Her attack exposed the boss information, finally giving us the name Necrodio and its massive 1,144 HP pool.
Ruche’s attack reduced that total to 805 HP, creating what looked like the perfect opportunity for a coordinated burst.
Naturally, things went horribly wrong.
The party launched HELLFIRE BARRAGE, hoping to capitalize on the opening. Instead of simply taking the punishment, Necrodio used DARK WAVES, knocking the attackers away and completely disrupting their offensive rhythm.
That alone would have been bad enough. Then Necrodio used DARK HEAL.
Its health jumped back to roughly 1,111 / 1,144 HP.
Honestly, this was probably my favorite moment of the chapter because it completely destroys the comfortable assumption that Elymas knows exactly how this enemy works. He may remember the game, but this version of the dungeon clearly does not want to behave like the game he remembers.
Necrodio Is Basically Built to Counter Elymas
What makes Necrodio so dangerous is the ridiculous combination of abilities it has shown.
It can:
- Fly and control the battlefield from above.
- Use long-range magic attacks.
- Knock enemies away with DARK WAVES.
- Regenerate enormous amounts of HP.
- Create a Snowstorm that damages and slows opponents.
- Fight effectively in close combat.
- Use powerful electric attacks.
That last point is particularly nasty because Elymas discovers that even his defensive abilities cannot completely neutralize Necrodio’s attacks.
The SNOWSTORM is also more important than it initially looks. The ability does not simply make the battlefield visually annoying. It creates a genuine environmental hazard by reducing visibility, slowing movement and gradually draining the party’s resources.
That means Elymas cannot simply stand there and trade attacks.
He needs to move.
He needs to protect his companions.
And, most importantly, he needs to avoid getting hit again.
Elymas Has Only 141 HP Left
This is where Chapter 177 becomes especially exciting.
After Necrodio switches into its melee-oriented fighting style, Elymas gets hit by an electrified version of WINDHUNT. Even with MAGIC GUARD, the attack removes a huge portion of his remaining health.
His status screen is brutal:
HP: 141 / 952
MP: 55 / 146
Those numbers tell the story better than any dramatic speech could.
Elymas has roughly 15% of his maximum HP remaining and barely more than a third of his MP.
Meanwhile, Necrodio is sitting at approximately 1,111 HP.
This is not a normal boss fight anymore. It is a survival puzzle.
And then Necrodio prepares DRAGONSLAYER DRIVE.
The chapter cuts away before we see the result, leaving Elymas holding onto Ruche and promising that he has a plan.
That cliffhanger is cruel.
My Biggest Chapter 177 Theory: Elymas Will Turn Necrodio’s Ultimate Against It
Personally, I don’t think Elymas’s plan will be a simple “parry the attack and counter” maneuver.
That would be too straightforward for this manga.
I suspect Elymas has realized that Necrodio’s biggest strength is also its biggest weakness. The boss has so many abilities that it has become extremely predictable in the way it responds to threats.
The Snowstorm may be the key.
Necrodio is controlling the battlefield with limited visibility, while Elymas has already demonstrated that he is capable of reading system mechanics better than almost anyone else. Instead of trying to fight through the storm, he could deliberately manipulate Necrodio into attacking the wrong target or position.
Ruche is the obvious candidate for this.
Her agility makes her perfect for creating a false opening, while Taotie can potentially provide the physical presence necessary to draw Necrodio’s attention.
The goal wouldn’t necessarily be to damage the boss immediately.
The goal would be to make Necrodio waste Dragonslayer Drive.
The “Tightrope Walk” Could Be a Perfect Parry
Another possibility is that Elymas intends to use his remaining MP for one extremely precise defensive maneuver.
With only 55 MP, he cannot afford to repeatedly activate expensive abilities. Every spell and defensive skill has suddenly become a resource that has to be calculated carefully.
That makes a perfect parry incredibly valuable.
If Dragonslayer Drive has a significant recovery period after missing or being deflected, Elymas could potentially create the one opening the party needs.
The important word here is one.
Elymas does not need to dominate Necrodio.
He just needs one mistake.
One opening.
One successful counter.
That is why the “tightrope” description feels so appropriate.
Could Ruche Be the Real MVP of Chapter 177?
I also wouldn’t be surprised if Ruche plays a much bigger role than expected.
She already demonstrated in Chapter 176 that she can reach Necrodio even while the boss is flying. Her mobility gives Elymas something incredibly valuable: another piece on the battlefield that Necrodio has to account for.
A decoy maneuver through the Snowstorm could be particularly effective.
If Necrodio cannot clearly see the party, Ruche might be able to bait the boss into committing to an attack. Once Dragonslayer Drive is launched, Elymas could exploit the resulting position and turn the entire attack against Necrodio.
It would also fit the series perfectly.
Elymas’s greatest strength has never been raw power. It is his ability to think several moves ahead.
What I Expect From Chapter 177
My prediction is that Chapter 177 will not immediately finish Necrodio.
Instead, I expect the chapter to focus heavily on Elymas executing the first stage of his strategy.
The most likely sequence, in my opinion, is:
- Elymas survives Dragonslayer Drive by an extremely narrow margin.
- Ruche helps manipulate Necrodio’s position inside the Snowstorm.
- Elymas identifies a short recovery window in the boss’s attack cycle.
- The party finally lands a coordinated counterattack.
- Necrodio reveals another mechanic before the chapter ends.
That last possibility would be painfully appropriate.
After all, Chapter 176 basically established that Elymas’s old game knowledge is no longer enough. Every time he thinks he understands the boss, Necrodio produces another ability that was either unavailable, altered or completely unexpected.

Why This Fight Works So Well
What I appreciate most about this arc is that Elymas isn’t winning because the story suddenly decides he is stronger than everyone else.
He is struggling.
He is running out of resources.
His health is dangerously low.
His enemy can heal almost all of its damage.
And his own knowledge is becoming increasingly unreliable.
That makes the fight feel much more like an actual high-level RPG encounter than a traditional power-fantasy battle.
Chapter 176 didn’t make Elymas look weak. It made the enemy look smart.
That’s a huge difference.
And if Chapter 177 follows through on the “tightrope walk” promise, we could get one of the most satisfying tactical sequences in the entire dungeon arc.
For now, all we can do is wait and see whether Elymas’s plan is genuinely brilliant or whether Necrodio has another completely unfair mechanic waiting for him.
Either way, The Exiled Heavy Knight Chapter 177 is shaping up to be a must-read chapter for fans of tactical fantasy, LitRPG manga and Soulslike-style boss battles. After ending Chapter 176 with Elymas at 141 HP, there is absolutely no room left for a mistake.
