The terrified boy explains that his hospitalized mother has become their hostage because he possesses the rare ability to see spirits. They force him to locate Hikari, believing the scarred child is their objective.

Or at least…

That’s what everyone—including readers—is supposed to believe.

Yojin Continues to Impress

One reason I’ve become attached to this series so quickly is Yojin himself.

He’s never portrayed as an unstoppable superhero.

Instead, he’s calm, compassionate, and always seems several steps ahead.

When the frightened teenager completely breaks down, Yojin doesn’t criticize him or blame him for helping the spirits.

Instead, he simply promises:

“I’ll save your mother.”

It’s a small scene, but one that says everything about his character.

Even knowing there’s almost certainly a trap waiting, he chooses to walk straight toward danger.

That kind of confidence makes the ending even more painful.

The Hospital Scene Is Brilliantly Executed

The entire sequence outside Iwaza Hospital is probably my favorite part of the manga so far.

The atmosphere changes almost instantly.

• A quiet night.
• A hospital rooftop.
• A helpless mother suddenly standing on the edge.
• Then she falls.

Yojin reacts exactly as every reader expects.

He launches himself forward with incredible speed, catches her safely, and gently returns her to her son.

For a brief second, it feels like the heroes actually won.

That’s exactly why the reveal works so well.

The rescue wasn’t the victory.

It was the trap.

The Hive Mind Wins Without Throwing a Punch

This is probably the smartest villain move we’ve seen in Twilight Blade.

Everything leading up to this moment was carefully engineered.

• The frightened son.
• The missing target.
• The desperate rescue.
• The emotional promise.

Every single event positioned Yojin exactly where the Hive Mind wanted him.

Instead of attacking first, they waited for Yojin’s own kindness to expose him.

That feels much more frightening than simply introducing a stronger enemy.

It proves the Hive Mind studies human behavior better than humans understand themselves.

When the enormous vortex appears above the hospital and the spirits calmly declare, “We’ve been expecting you,” you immediately realize Yojin has already lost the psychological battle before the real fight even begins.

The Final Pages Are Genuinely Creepy

The chapter somehow becomes even darker during its final moments.

Instead of celebrating his mother’s rescue, the young boy discovers she is still being used.

The Hive Mind speaks through her body.

Not only does it mock Yojin, it mocks the son as well.

The line about him finally being “useful” completely destroys any emotional relief the previous pages created.

It isn’t simply horror.

It’s emotional cruelty.

The final image of darkness swallowing Yojin while the spirit claims, “Now the exorcist is mine,” is exactly the kind of ending that forces readers to immediately start discussing theories online.

My Predictions for Chapter 6

Of course, nobody knows exactly where the story will go next, but these are the possibilities that seem most likely after Chapter 5.

1. Yojin Won’t Escape Unchanged

I honestly don’t believe the series would end this encounter with Yojin simply breaking free after a few attacks.

That would make the Hive Mind feel much less threatening.

Instead, I expect Chapter 6 to focus on a psychological struggle inside Yojin himself.

Whether it’s possession, corruption, or temporary control, I think the consequences will last much longer than one chapter.

2. The Boy Finally Fights Back

The glasses-wearing teenager has spent the entire story reacting to events rather than influencing them.

Chapter 6 feels like the perfect opportunity for him to change.

His guilt is overwhelming.

His mother has survived.

Now he has every reason to risk his own life trying to save Yojin.

Even if he fails, taking his first step toward becoming an exorcist would be meaningful character development.

3. Hikari Is Probably in More Danger Than We Think

One detail that keeps bothering me is Hikari.

He’s asleep.

He’s completely alone.

And the Hive Mind already proved it can operate multiple plans simultaneously.

Would such an intelligent enemy really send every spirit to the hospital?

I doubt it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chapter 6 suddenly shifts back to the apartment and reveals another attack beginning there.

That would instantly split the tension between two locations.

Why Twilight Blade Feels Different

A lot of supernatural manga introduce stronger villains by increasing power levels.

Twilight Blade seems to be taking another route.

The conflict isn’t just physical.

It’s psychological.

Characters lose because they’re compassionate.

Because they hesitate.

Because they choose to save someone else.

That creates much more interesting storytelling than simply asking who can throw the biggest attack.

It’s also why Chapter 5 stayed in my head long after I finished reading it.

Final Thoughts

If the series maintains this level of writing, Twilight Blade could easily become one of the standout supernatural manga of 2026.

Chapter 5 perfectly balances emotional storytelling, suspense, horror, and clever tactical writing without feeling forced. More importantly, it leaves readers with genuine uncertainty. I have several theories about Chapter 6, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the author completely subverts expectations once again.

Whether Yojin survives, becomes possessed, or reveals a hidden technique, one thing feels certain: the confrontation with the Hive Mind is only beginning, and the next chapter has the potential to completely redefine the direction of the series.
