I think Grand Blue has too much life left in it to disappear now.

The six-year gap after Season 1 was brutal. By the time Season 2 finally arrived, there was a legitimate question about whether the anime had simply been forgotten.

Instead, the franchise came back, and then Season 3 arrived almost immediately afterward.

That tells me there is still meaningful interest in the series.

More importantly, Grand Blue has found a very specific audience. It’s not just another school comedy. The university setting, diving culture, absurd adult humor, friendships, romantic misunderstandings, and completely unhinged comedy give it an identity that is difficult to replace.

There are plenty of anime with attractive characters and romantic subplots.

There are far fewer anime where a diving club can somehow turn a completely ordinary evening into an existential crisis.
