He’s not a calm, effortlessly talented protagonist who always knows what to do. Shiki is emotional, impulsive, stubborn, and often completely overwhelmed by what’s happening around him.
That’s part of his charm.
His journey has never really been about simply becoming stronger. It’s about figuring out what his Oni identity means and deciding what kind of person he wants to become while surrounded by people who already have their own answers.
The arrival of Todoroki and the Kikoku Unit puts even more pressure on that conflict.
Shiki has to decide whether cooperation is possible without simply accepting somebody else’s worldview.
That gives the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc a much stronger foundation than another straightforward tournament or training storyline.
The October 2 Premiere Is One to Watch
The timing is also perfect for the Fall 2026 anime season.

It’s an anime that encourages arguments.
Who is actually right? Which faction can be trusted? How much of the Oni history has been hidden? What exactly are the Children of the Kishin? And how far can Shiki go before revenge starts controlling him instead of the other way around?
Those are much more interesting questions than simply asking who has the strongest attack.
