Chapter 30 Ending Explained: The Sword Finally Activates

The funniest thing about Chapter 30 is that the Mystic Sword doesn’t activate because Hajime suddenly discovers some noble heroic power.

Nope.

It basically takes a family argument and turns it into a supernatural emergency.

Hajime has already lost interest in fighting after the greatsword refuses to activate. Instead of treating the situation seriously, he starts mocking his siblings and suggests that the sword might not want to help the people who damaged it.

Then he makes the spectacularly bad decision to tell them that licking his feet and begging for forgiveness might improve his mood.

Naturally, everyone loses their mind.

But the glasses-wearing brother takes the joke far more seriously than anyone expects. He actually moves toward Hajime and starts removing his boot.

This scene is exactly why I enjoy the strange tone of The Hero’s Bereaved Family. The situation is supposedly about legendary weapons, inherited power, and the fate of a Hero’s bloodline, yet the characters are behaving like the world’s most dysfunctional family trapped in a room together.

Hajime finally gives in and apologizes.

And that is when everything changes.

The Mystic Sword begins reacting.

The weapon rises by itself, producing an enormous burst of magical energy. The room is overwhelmed, the floor is damaged, and the siblings suddenly find themselves caught inside what appears to be a massive displacement spell.

Then they disappear.

Where Did Hajime and the Others Go?

This is the part of Chapter 30 that really matters.

When the teleportation ends, Hajime and the others aren’t somewhere random.

They have been transported into a huge treasure-filled cavern.

And when I say huge, I mean the kind of ridiculous fantasy treasure room that practically screams endgame dungeon.

Gold, crowns, chests, jewelry and ancient artifacts cover the cavern. But the treasure isn’t even the most important discovery.

At the top of the mountain sits Kazuhiro’s Mystic Sword.

The weapon is visually very different from Dylan’s dark greatsword. Instead of the rough and intimidating appearance of Hajime’s weapon, Kazuhiro’s sword has a pristine white blade and a distinctive star-shaped hilt.

The final pages make the implication pretty obvious:

Dylan’s Mystic Sword didn’t simply teleport the group somewhere safe. It brought them directly to another Hero’s weapon.

And that feels very intentional.

Why the Mystic Swords Being “Alive” Matters

One of the most interesting details from Chapter 30 is the confirmation that the Mystic Swords aren’t simply magical tools.

They behave like living beings.

That completely changes how I look at the weapons.

Hajime doesn’t seem to have absolute control over Dylan’s sword. Instead, the weapon reacts to circumstances, emotions and potentially the presence of another Mystic Sword.

If that interpretation is correct, the teleportation wasn’t necessarily something Hajime consciously triggered.

The sword may have chosen the destination itself.

That opens up a bunch of questions for Chapter 31.

• Could Kazuhiro’s sword react to Dylan’s weapon?
• Could it choose its own wielder?
• Could the swords themselves be manipulating the Hero descendants into fighting each other?

That last possibility would make the inheritance conflict much more interesting than a simple competition between siblings.

What Could Happen in Chapter 31?

Obviously, this section is speculation rather than confirmed information, but there are several directions that make a lot of sense after the Chapter 30 cliffhanger.

1. The Treasure Vault Could Become a Battlefield

The first thing I expect is a confrontation.

The mysterious fur-cloaked sibling with the unusual diamond-patterned eyes has already been connected to the search for Kazuhiro’s sword. If that character has reached the treasure chamber first, Hajime’s group may have effectively teleported directly into an ambush.

That would be extremely on-brand for this manga.

Imagine spending all that time searching for a legendary weapon, only for another group to literally fall out of the sky in front of it.

2. Kazuhiro’s Sword May Choose Someone

This is probably the biggest question for me.

If the Mystic Swords are genuinely living entities, then finding Kazuhiro’s weapon doesn’t necessarily mean Hajime’s group can simply pick it up.

The sword might reject everyone.

Or it could choose someone completely unexpected.

And considering how dysfunctional this family is, I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who gets chosen is the one character nobody expects.

3. The Suited Brother Is Still Dangerous

The glasses-wearing brother might have been the funniest character in Chapter 30, but I wouldn’t underestimate him.

His willingness to humiliate himself just to activate the sword tells us something important: he is extremely serious about winning the inheritance battle.

There is a huge difference between being desperate and being willing to do literally anything necessary.

Now that the group has arrived at the treasure vault, I could easily see him abandoning any temporary cooperation with Hajime if he spots something he wants.

4. Expect More Completely Stupid Family Comedy

Let’s be honest.

They just arrived at a legendary treasure mountain.

There is no way this family is going to behave normally.

I can absolutely imagine the next chapter spending a few panels on someone grabbing gold, arguing over who owns which artifact, or Hajime being more concerned about his missing boot than the supernatural weapon sitting above them.

That contrast is one of the manga’s strongest qualities.

The stakes are enormous.

The characters are ridiculous.

Somehow, it works.

Dylan’s Sword vs. Kazuhiro’s Sword

The two Mystic Swords are becoming increasingly important to the overall conflict, and their differences could tell us something about their respective Hero bloodlines.

For me, the biggest mystery is still what happens when these two weapons finally interact directly.

We’ve seen Dylan’s sword respond to the situation.

We haven’t yet seen what Kazuhiro’s weapon does.

That feels like the obvious next step.

My Prediction for Chapter 31

If I had to make one prediction, I don’t think Chapter 31 will immediately turn into a straightforward sword fight.

I expect the manga to spend some time establishing why this treasure chamber exists and why Dylan’s sword brought Hajime’s group here.

There is probably more going on than simple convenience.

The treasure could be part of the Hero’s inheritance, while Kazuhiro’s sword may be the key to accessing something even more important hidden inside the vault.

And if the fur-cloaked sibling is already there, the situation could become a three-way confrontation very quickly.

What I definitely don’t expect is a peaceful reunion.

These people can barely stand being in the same room for five minutes.

Put them in a cavern filled with legendary treasure and another Mystic Sword, and we’re basically asking for disaster.

Final Thoughts

Chapter 30 was a surprisingly important chapter for The Hero’s Bereaved Family.

On the surface, it was another ridiculous family argument involving Hajime, a boot, and a Mystic Sword that apparently has more personality than some of the characters.

Underneath that comedy, though, the chapter delivered some genuinely important lore.

The Mystic Swords appear to be living entities.

Dylan’s sword can apparently trigger massive displacement magic.

And now Hajime’s group has been delivered directly to Kazuhiro’s Mystic Sword, surrounded by an enormous mountain of treasure.

That is a pretty serious escalation.

The biggest question going into Chapter 31 isn’t simply who gets the sword.

It’s whether the swords themselves are choosing what happens next.

If they are, then the Hero descendants may not be as much in control of this inheritance war as they think.

And personally, that’s the direction I want to see.

The Hero’s Bereaved Family is at its best when the dark fantasy drama and completely unhinged family comedy collide. Chapter 30 managed to do exactly that, and now Chapter 31 has the chance to turn the treasure vault into one of the most chaotic locations in the entire series.

For now, all we can do is wait for September 17, 2026.

And hopefully Hajime finds his boot before somebody else does.
